Hello hello Larry, Adam, Bono, and Edge,
It’s been a while since you last visited Groningen. Do you remember that night at Club Vera, where just thirty people showed up for your second gig in the Netherlands? It may have been a small and innocent crowd, but it was the start of some unforgettable experience.
Since then, Groningen has become a true hub for music. Festivals like Eurosonic have brought countless new and upcoming European artists to our stages, where fresh sounds are introduced to the world, and future legends are born. We've also welcomed icons like Sting, Tina Turner, Green Day, and The Rolling Stones. At the Groninger Museum, we celebrated David Bowie’s artistry, marveling at his costumes as we mourned his loss and honored his legacy.
In the Netherlands, Groningen has become the place for punk and indie rock as well as groundbreaking different sounds. Ask Eddie Vedder 😉 Wouldn’t Groningen be a perfect fit for U2?
We’ve heard you’re working on something new. Can’t wait! Whether it’s a return to your punk rock roots, an straight up guitar-driven sound, or a bold new sci-fi folk experiment, we’d love for Groningen to be a small part of the next chapter for U2.
The stage is set, and the city is ready. Let us in the sound. Turn it up loud, captain!
